一、《四川统计年鉴-2004》是1988年公开出版以来的第17卷，是一部全面反映四川省经济和社会发展情况的综合性统计资料年刊。本年鉴收录了全省和各市(州)、县(市、区)2003年经济和社会各方面的大量统计数据，以及历史重要年份和近年来的全省主要统计数据。本年鉴在第五部分增加了房地产的统计资料；在第七部分充实了历史年份和分地区的城乡居民收支情况；在第十九部分充实了部门统计资料。
二、《四川统计年鉴-2004》共分为20个部分，即：1．行政区划和自然资源；2．综合；3．人口；4．从业人员和职工工资；5．固定资产投资；6．财政和物价；7．人民生活；8．城市概况；9．民族自治地区概况；10．市县概况；11．农业；12．工业，13．建筑业；14．交通运输、邮电和通讯；15．国内贸易；16．对外经济贸易和旅游；17．金融和保险；18．教育、科技和专利；19．文化、体育、卫生、社会福利和其他；20．企业调查。为了帮助读者理解和使用统计数据，在每部分之后附有主要统计指标解释。
三、本年鉴中所使用的度量衡单位均采用国际统一标准计量单位。
四、本年鉴中，因统计口径变化，使部分资料与往年不可比，我们在表中加了注释，使用时请注意。
五、本年鉴表中的符号使用说明：
“…”表示数据不足本表最小单位数；
“空格”表示该项目统计数据不详或无该项数据；
“#”表示其中的主要项。

Ⅰ. Sichuan Statistical Yearbook 2004 is the 17th volume of Sichuan Statistical Yearbook, an annual statistics publication to reflect various aspects of Sichuan's economic and social development, which has been published in public since 1988. Sichuan Statistical Yearbook 2003 covers very comprehensive data series in 2003 and some selected data series in historically important years and the most recent years at provincial level, local levels of prefecture and level of county. The data of real estate is added in chapter 5, the data of income and expenditure of rural and urban households by region and year is added in chapter 7 and the more data from the department statistics is added in chapter 19 this year.
Ⅱ. Sichuan Statistical Yearbook 2004 contains the following twenty parts, 1. Division of Administrative Areas and Natural Resources, 2. General Survey, 3. Population, 4. Employment and Wage, 5. Investment in Fixed Assets, 6. Local Government Finance and Price, 7. People's Livelihood, 8. City, 9. Survey of Minority Nationality Autonomous Areas, 10. Survey of Municipality and County, 11. Agriculture, 12. Industry, 13. Construction, 14. Transportation, Post and Telecommunications Services, 15. Domestic Trade, 16. Foreign Trade and Economic Cooperation, International Tourism, 17. Banking and Insurance, 18.Education, Science, Technology and Patents, 19. Culture, Sports, Public Health, Social Welfare and Other, 20. Enterprise Survey, Appendix: Statistics on Major Countries and Territories. Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators is attached to the end of each chapter as a helpful tool for readers to understand and use statistical data in this book.
Ⅲ. The units of measurement used in this book are internationally standard measurement units.
Ⅳ. The concepts, definitions and coverage of statistics of some data in this book have been adjusted, which are not comparable with former years, therefor some notes are added in this book.Users are alerted to the notes about the difference in the concepts, definitions and coverage of statistics when using and comparing data in this book.
Ⅴ. Notations used in this book:
"…" indicates that the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table,
"(blank)"indicates that the data not available,
"#" indicates the major items of the total.
