一、《山西统计年鉴-2004》是一部全面反映山西省国民经济和社会发展情况的资料性年刊。《山西统计年鉴—2004》收录了全省和各地、市、县、各部门2003年经济、科技、社会各方面大量的数据。为适应国际间交流，并与国际接轨，《山西统计年鉴—2004》在装帧、内文编排上做了较大的改进，开本为大16开，全部实行中英文对照。 二、为了满足山西可持续发展战略和社会主义市场经济发展对统计资料的需求，增加了环保、景气调查、企业集团、现代企业制度、基本单位普查、旅馆业等重要内容。 三、全书内容共分为19个部分，即1、综合；2、人口、从业人员和劳动报酬；3、固定资产投资；4、能源消费与库存；5、物价；6、人民生活；7、农村经济；8、工业；9、建筑业；10、交通运输邮电通讯业；11、批发零售贸易和餐饮业；12、对外经济贸易和旅游业；13、财政、金融和保险；14、教育、科技；15、文化、体育、卫生、环保；16、城市概况；17、地市篇；18、县市篇；19、企业篇。各篇末还附有《主要统计指标解释》，对主要统计指标的涵义、统计范围和统计方法以及历史沿革作了简要说明。 四、资料中所使用的度量衡单位均采用国际统一标准计量单位。 五、本年鉴的指标口径范围，基本上以国家现行的统计报表制度为准。资料大部分来源于统计年报，部分来自抽样调查和有关业务部门。为了便于读者使用，对某些指标在表下作了简要注释。凡以前发表过的统计数字与本年鉴有不一致的，请以本年鉴为准。 六、年鉴符号的使用说明： “…”表示数据不足本指标最小单位； “空格”表示该项统计指标数据不详或无该项指标数据； “#”表示其中项。 Ⅰ.Shanxi Statistical Yearbook 2004, is an annual statistics publication, which reflects various aspects of social and economic development of Shanxi province. Shanxi Statistical Yearbook 2004 covers very comprehensive data series in 2003 at provincial level and local levels of prefecture，city and county, reflects social and economic as well as science and technology development of Shanxi province. To meet the need of international exchange, considerable correctings and improvings have been made in binding and layout. Ⅱ.To meet the data need of making sustainable development strategy and developing socialist market economy,main data and materials about environmental protection, economic booming investigation, enterprise group，modem enterprise system, basic unit survey, hotel information and so on are added in Shanxi Statistical Yearbook 2004. Ⅲ.The book contains the following nineteen parts: 1.General Information; 2.Population, Employment and Wage; 3.Investment in Fixed Assets;4.Consumption and Stock of Energy; 5. Price; 6.People's Livelihood; 7. Agricultural Economics; 8. Industry; 9. Construction; 10.Transportation,Posts and Telecommunications Services; 11.Wholesale and Retail Trade, Catering Trade; 12.Foreign Trade and Tourism; 13.Public Finance, Banking and Insurance; 14.Education, Science and Technology; 15.Culture, Sports, Public Health and Environmental Protection; 16. Information of City; 17. Part of Prefecture and City; 18. Part of County and City; 19. Part of Enterprises.In addition, Explanatory Notes on Main Statistical Indicators-a brief introduction about the meaning, data sources, statistical coverages, statistical methods and historical changes of main statistical indicators--are provided at the end of each part. Ⅳ.The units of measurement used in this book are internationally standard measurement units. Ⅴ.On the whole, the concepts, definitions and coverage of statistics indicators in this book are the same as in the current statistics report system of our country. The major data sources of this book are obtained from annual statistical reports, some from sample surveys and some from statistics materials provided by relative economical administrative departments. For the convenience of the readers, brief notes concerning some indicators about their changes in meaning or coverage are given at the lower part of relevant tables. In the case of some statistical data issued before being inconsistent with this publication, take the data in this publication as correction. Ⅵ.Notations used in this book: “...” indicates that the figure is not large enough to be measured with the smallest unit in the table; “(blank)” indicates that the data not available; “#” indicates the major items of the total.
